ahah. i found out the origin of my surname-PHOEN:D
at first i googled it, and this is what came out:

the short of it is, that Phoen is the God of the Sun and Summer.
so, i started thinking that i was related to some god of some kind.
yes i know its completely stupid and stuff, but hey, i can dream.
so i asked my dad, since how likely isit that we are related to a god,
and he told me a long story which i shall type out later,
but the short of it all is that: An indonesian immigration officer made it up.
and i was like" wth. thats the story behind our surname?"
"my granddad(originally frm china) and mum stayed in indonesia, and when they came to singapore, the indonesian immigration officer needed an english surname, so since my grandad's
surname in chinese is"pan" then the catonese pronunciation is "phun".
since the dutch were ruling in that time, "u" sounded like "oe" sooo,
he wrote it down as "phoen".
yep. completely retarded.
it so ruined my "im related to a god" theory.
